Mass today, Thursday, August 15, 2024,

Holy Day of Obligation at 6:30 pm.

Today, the Church joyfully celebrates the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a special Holy Day of Obligation. On November 1, 1950, Pope Pius XII officially defined this beautiful belief as a dogma of the Church. He proclaimed that the Blessed Virgin Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was taken up into heaven, body, and soul, sharing in the glory of God. While the Pope didn’t specify exactly how or when this happened, he clarified that the Assumption is a core part of our faith, passed down from the Apostles.
